Disney California Adventure's World of Color

Our nearly 16 hour day of Disney fun was largely because we were excited to see Disney's World of Color Show.  It did not disappoint!

The Show cost $75 million dollars to design, manufacture and build.  (WOWZA).

There are over 1200 fountains.  Lights, water, fire, fog, lasers, hi-def projections on mist screens create an amazing and magical show.

The London Symphony Orchestra provide the sountrack to this fantastic show.  It's worth fighting the crowds (and you have to get a Fastpass to be able to get a spot to view the show) to see this wow of a show.

Club 33 ~ Walt and Mickey's Special Place

Janice and Mark bought 4 passes to Club 33 at a fundraiser.  Timothy and I got to be their guests.  Timothy was sooooo super excited and told me all about what an opportunity was awaiting us.
Club 33 is Disney's Private Club.  There are only 487 members allowed and currently a 14+ year waiting list (and they are currently not accepting any new names/applications) and a $7,500+ initiation fee and $3,025 annual membership fees.  Talk about an exclusive club!!

I got the honor of pressing the buzzer underneath the ornate brass panel.

To enter Club 33, a guest must press a buzzer on an intercom concealed by a hidden panel in the doorway. (At one time, a member needed only to insert his membership card in a slot near the buzzer and the door would open. However, this process no longer works.) A receptionist will ask for his name over the intercom and, if access is granted, open the door to a small, ornate lobby. Guests have the option of going to the dining level via an antique-style glass lift or a staircase to the second level which wraps around it.The lift is an exact replica of one Disney saw and fell in love with during a vacation in Paris, but the owner of the original refused to sell. Undaunted, Disney sent a team of engineers to the Parisian hotel to take exact measurements for use in the creation of a replica. A sample of the original finish was taken ensure faithful reproduction. (Wikipedia)

Walt Disney and his shadow

The dining room is filled with Napoleonic First Empire Decor.

Filet Mignon, Risotto and a plethora of sweets for dessert.  All delicioso.

An interesting toilet, eh?

Thank you Club 33!  We've now experienced the secret feature of Disneyland.  Timothy can now cross that off his bucket list!!!

Disneyland

Our sister and brother in law treated us to Disneyland.  We got to be guests at the highly coveted and exclusive Club 33 (which will get its own blog post!) and had a blast getting to be big kids at both Disneyland and California Disney.

Our nephew Andrew came along too... but he wouldn't be seen with us (except to get his pass to get into the park!) and would rather spend the day solo then be with us dorks. :)

Our almost (92 more days) married button.

Our first stop was to grab fast passes to Star Tours ~ the new and improved ride.  I'm not one for simulated rides (remember back to the vomit fest at Knott's Berry Farm after the encounter with the Mexican Hats ride) but I decided to give it a go.

Finding Nemo is much more my speed.  Sitting in a submarine going very slowly and having the sites pass you by.

Mark says no photos please!

We opted to sit in the tea cups instead of actually riding the attraction.

We spent some time at Pirate's Lair.

Sir Andrew joined us long enough to get some cash from the 'rents for some lunch.

I felt great before Star tours. but not so much afterwards.  Sigh.

The boys loved the Toy Story ride.

And I was excited to check out the new Ariel ride which opened recently.

A beautiful day to experience California Adventure.

I prefer the the view of the Ferris Wheel from the ground.  Even Mark thought the rocking cage was a little nausea inducing.

The Ariel Ride didn't disappoint.  The Little Mermaid is my favoritest movie ever, so it was awesome to see so many of my favorite scenes up close and personal.

Apparently the convent had a field trip to Disneyland.

It was an awesome day and night.  We stayed for nearly 16 hours ~ a record.  Stay tuned for Club 33 and World of Color shots.
