The Birthday Girl's Cake

I asked Sweet T. if I could make my own birthday cake.  We've tried a few Gluten Free cakes but they've left a lot to be desired.  Mainly because they are GF and Dairy Free and it just doesn't work for us.

I broke out the awesome Kitchen Aid mixer, one of the generous wedding gifts from Mrs. B., and went to town on my first GF cake.

I made the recipe from scratch thanks to a friend who is also GF.  I was shooting for a Tiffany Box Blue but I don't quite have the whole color matching frosting thing down yet.  I'm learnng a little dab will do ya.  I screwed up the color so I made it a funky shade of purple.  (See below!)

I wimped out on making the cake from scratch and opted for this (ridiculously expensive) mix.

And voila  here's a day after pic after we tried out the cake.  It was pretty tasty!  The plate is another amazing wedding present.  A cake plate from Tiffany & Co.  Do my friends know me or what?

33 candles on my birthday cake and I've never been happier.  Married to my very best friend, still high from our dream come true wedding, and trusting that this year will be full of suprises and blessings.  So very blessed.
